Summer Fun

June 29th, Journal Entry Week 4 Day 4
So I set up the pool today. Took me all day to clean it and set it up. Anything to make the kids happy, right? I have been working on teaching the kids how to swim. They seem to have overcome some of their fear of water. You see all these news about children drowning in pools. Makes me kind of worried. They need to be able to at least float. Takes a lot of work to keep up with a pool. Every summer I fight with the thought of setting the pool up, but every year the children win. They just know how to wear a parent down. All in all I look forward to swimming and spending time with the family here at the house, instead of having to pay to take them to the public pools. It is easier to take them out back instead of driving across town to the YMCA. You figure they would be satisfied but than they always have the next thing that they want. It is hard to find a balance between spoiling the kids and being reasonable to their needs and wants. So give it a day or two and they will want more stuff. Between lights, floats toys and all the other bells and whistles that come with the pool, we will see where I draw the line. And than there is the neighbors. Seems like as soon as I get the pool up, it is surrounded by thousands of neighborhood kids that want to swim, want to be feed, pretty much want to live at my house. For the most part I think my kids are pretty good at working me over. But I love them and they are worth it.
