Don't judge a book by it's cover

June 30th, Journal Entry Week 4 Day 5

They say, do not judge a book by it's cover and in many instances, that is true. Many times, I found that after I got to know somebody I ended up being very surprised. There was a very different person from what I expected behind that appearance. It is true, looks are not everything. That said, you can not look in everybody for the good inside of them. I used to look for the good inside of everybody. I used to see a run-down drug addict and think that they just had a bad childhood and I could make a difference. Well in some people, or actually a lot of people's life, you can not make a difference. A lot of times they look the way they do for a reason. They have the life they have for a reason. We live in a country that has plenty of aide for people to better themselves. I would understand if we lived in a developing country but we live in a wealthy country with plenty of opportunities. I am not talking about being attractive, I am talking about being clean, well mannered and not appearing intoxicated in public. It seems as there are many such people in this world, especially in my age group. My hatred for such people probably stems from my bad experience with people that were the same and I may be judging, but you are what you are. If you do not have enough respect for yourself to clean yourself up, well than I don't have respect for you. And don't ask me for favors either, because you spent all your money on you know what. Maybe coming off a little harsh but it is what it is, so if you do not like me or my views I am probably better off without you anyways. Keeping it short and sweet.

  1. Nice reflection. I learned not to judge while working my very first job...selling diamonds. Those who looked like they could not afford, could. ~Ms. A.
