July 14th, Week 6 Day 5
One of my favorite past times is going fishing in a nice secluded place. It is my getaway from the everyday stressors of life. If I have a stressful day, I think about how nice it would be to stand by the lake or river and hear nothing except the sounds of the water and the animals around.
I have been going fishing since I was very young. My father took me and I have been hooked ever since. I think it is also a bonding activity. I used to spend hours fishing with my buddies, a lot of my memories of my friends involve fishing.
I take all my children fishing to give them the same memories my father gave me. I think it is important for children to do outdoor activities. It is amazing how important it is for the kids as well. Every weekend they bug me to take them fishing. They get to cast and reel in the fish. After they get the fish off the hook, hey hold the fish by their mouth and get to throw them back in the water. It is a way to spend time with them and get them to experience nature.
Lately I started to go fishing around the Springfield area. The Ozarks have some great places to go fishing. I like to find secluded places were I can just sit and relax while I fish. Fishing is the time when I can just think and clear my mind. Even if I do not catch anything worth taking home it is worth it for me. My fiance is not crazy about seeing me scale the fish etc anyways.
I hope I wil be able to take advantage of this summer and catch something good. It would be nice to have a nice fish fry with the fish I caught myself.
