Loyalty

Everybody likes to act like they are your friends. They say you can trust them with a secret or money etc. But when it comes down to it, there are only a handful of people that will show you loyalty.
You can not even count on your family to have your back anymore, even so they are more likely to do so. I had many people act like they were my friends and say that they had my back, but I know there is only one group of friends I can trust completely. My childhood friends back from Illinois have been in my life since elementary school. I know that if I had to call them up with a big favor tomorrow that they would do it for me in a heartbeat. Back in the day, we used to get into fistfights on a regular bases, but I think that just made our bond so much stronger.
There are not many people like that anymore. The same goes for my father. He is probably the one family member that would give his life for me. He has been there for me when everybody else deserted me.
I know who my true friends are because of the hard times I had to go through. These people where the ones that had my back through the whole ordeal of my custody case and regardless of what was going on they showed their support. Does not matter where I go in this country we keep in touch.
You have to hold on to good people like that because the odds are they will be the only true friends you will have in your life. You may have acquaintances that are good to be around during good times, but real friends will be there when life gets hard.
