Society

July 13th, Week 6 Day 4 Journal Blog entry

I am amazed of how society works nowadays. Mainstream America seems to be controlled by media that does not really tells us much. They have short, cut-off stories that can not tell us the truth. Even political views seem to follow the fast food agenda of whatever is the most convenient and gives us instant pleasure (or short lived entertainment), will be followed. I think many people do not think for themselves anymore, they want to follow the latest fabs and morals do not seem to come in the way at all.
You can see this when political leaders get caught up in scandals that showcase behavior you would expect from a teenager not an established grown man.
The same goes for other things. How in the world can a mother make money off of the death of her child which I believe she killed herself. America does not care who they reward as long as they get the newest scandal regardless of who profits. Sometimes I feel like we are nothing more than hypocritical puppets of society. I do not mean to sound like one of those old timers that complain about the youth but I am talking about my own generation. There seems to be hardly any boundaries anymore. We are like sheep, blindly following Fox news. Even when I turn on the Disney channel they are trying to put ideas in children's head about dating and other inappropriate things.
There are many people that do not agree with the mainstream lifestyle and they try to be unique and have their own morals.
We are bombarded with all this information and entertainment that tells us how to be, how to act. I just hope my children will not feed into the rules made up by the media of how they should be or what the should condone or not. Hopefully they willlive by their own rules and have their own opinions.
