Rainy days

July 7th, Week 5 Day 5 Journal Blog entry

Seems like rainy days are like a break from the stressful hustle of everyday life. When it rains everything seems to kind of slow down. I feel a little isolated from the world as if that curtain of water will keep everybody away.
When it rains, I like to sit on my front porch and just watch it. It is the most relaxing weather. You can hear the rain hitting the ground and the roof. I get the best sleep when it is raining. I open the windows just so the sound will make me go to sleep. It is so calming, better than any music. You feel the moisture in the air. You can even smell the rain. The rain sits like a curtain over the houses.
Nature seems to take a break to let the rain rejuvenate everything. Even animals are being quiet and seem to stop their activities to let the rain pass. It seems like an obligation to take a break when it rains.
I have had some of my best conversations watching the rain. It seems as the house is warmer and more comfortable when it rains outside.
I just like to sit out on the front porch or watch out the window. Even the children are getting used to watching the rain. When it starts raining they instantly go to the front porch to sit down, watch the rain and maybe even play in it, if they can get away with it.
I remember when I was little and played in the rain till I was soaked. It seems to be so much fun to play in the rain when you are young. That is why I let my children jump in the puddles and run around the yard when it is raining so they can fully enjoy the rain.

  1. This was a great post. I loved waking up to the rain this morning, even though I wanted to stay in bed. It was nice to have a little cooler day as well.
